Chocolate

Meet my foster pup Chocolate!  This poor little guy has had a rough start to his life and he's only 11 months old!  He's been bounced around and lived in 2 shelters, 1 home and now my home as his current foster home.

He's only about 30 lbs and needs to gain a lot of weight, he's very skinny right now, as he's been in a shelter for about 6 weeks now.  We believe he could be a GSP-mix, but he's as cute as can be!

Chocoalte has a food allergy so for now we have him on a Z/D diet, which is an rx dog food you can get from the vet.  Since I've only had him for about a week now, he's already gained some weight and is loving life.  In time once he's settled I plan on trying new foods to help pin point his allergy.  Because of his allergy he lost some hair, however, since he's been at my home his hair has been growing in very nicely.

Chocolate is a very curious pup, and I think that just getting out of the shelter alone has helped him tremendously.  He was very timid at first and now not so much. He's still learning, but so far he's been a pleasure.  Below is a video of Chocolate and my dog Sadie playing one afternoon in the yard.  By the way, he's a very playful pup!

German Shorthaired Pointers

Hello and welcome to my blog, The Brown Headed Hound!

My whole life I have grown up and lived with German Shorthaired Pointers.  These dogs are lovable, hugable and great companions.  Also, they look pretty neat with their brown heads and speckled bodies.

My dog Sadie, the brown head, and her friend at the dog park.
The aim of this blog is to help out anyone looking for information on GSP, and even possible adoption through the Eastern German Shorthaired Pointers Rescue. Below is a brief description of the group and their website.

Eastern German Shorthaired Pointers Club, Inc. is an active dog club with members primarily from New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania. EGSPC members run the Rescue Program, under club auspices. We are a small group of VOLUNTEERS dedicated to finding homes for lost or surrendered German Shorthaired Pointers (GSPs).
