Polly Adopted!

Polly finally found her forever home in November of 2011.  It took some time but we finally got it right.  Each dog is unique no matter what.  Whether you adopt from a breeder, rescue or shelter, each dog comes with its own unique personality and traits.  In Polly's situation, since being dropped off at a gun show earlier in the year, it took a lot of time to find out what makes Polly tick.

Polly was originally adopted over the summer of 2011, however, it was not a fit.  From the previous adopters we found that her behavior had changed and that Polly suffered from separation anxiety.  Prior to being adopted we had no idea.  Long story short, it was not a match and we were glad to take Polly back.  What we discovered was that Polly needed to be placed in a multi-dog family.

In November we got a bite and someone was very interested.  I am happy to announce that Polly has found a family, and a doggie sibling, Roxanne!

It goes to show that sometimes things are just not meant to be, but that never means it's time to give up.  That's why rescue does what it does.  Not every match is perfect the first time but we will do our best to find a loving home for both man and dog.

Here is an update from her Mom:

"Polly is doing wonderfully well! She's still a bit of a naughty pants, but I love her to death! She is such a joy. I don't think I could have gotten a sweeter dog. She is very much a mommy's girl. She has slimmed down considerably. The previous home must have had a full bowl at all times...if there is food Polly will eat! She is "Polly the Amazing" in the woods. I can't let her off the leash in a residential neighborhood or she'll take herself for a walk. In the woods she cruises up and down the hills and checks back in constantly. Thankfully, she sounds like a herd of elephants no matter where she is plus she can't blend with her bright whites. She loves to sink in the mud and skim water off the top ("Dog in a Bog"). She wouldn't swim though. I think if I swim she will. She lets little kids do anything to her. She has been a wonderful dance partner to one of my friend's daughter! Her and Roxanne get along very well except if Polly tries to go for Roxy's bowl at meal times. She does seem to have learned!
Thanks, Rachael"

We wish Polly and her family all the best :)
