Meet Polly Pocket Prissy Pants

Polly
Polly Pocket is a GSP, but I suspect some hound dog in this one.  Polly was found tied to a pole at a gun club in NY and picked up by animal control.  The shelter staff loved her, but then Polly was heartworm positive and couldn't afford to treat her. Once again Eastern German Shorthaired Pointer Rescue came to save the day so she wouldn't have to be put down.

The shelter dubbed her "Polly Pocket" because she's a little lady and is on the shorter side.  Polly's been spayed, updated on all her shots and was treated for heartworms.  She enjoys the outdoors and walk well on a leash. Inside, Polly is mellow and loves to follow her foster family around. When they rest, so does she.  Polly is housebroken, crate trained, comes when called and knows "sit."

Polly did not get along with other dogs at first.  I call her prissy pants because she's a typical girl - she gets moody.  It might have been the heartworm treatment but she's become less moody.  By moody I mean she likes her space.  She would growl at her foster brother and sister if they hovered over her while she tried to nap, which I don't blame her.  Who wants a brown head hovering over them while they're trying to sleep.  I would state that Polly isn't good at first meetings when it comes to dogs, she needs to warm up to them.  Once she does them it's all gravy.

While she was treated for heartworms she began to be more and more curious about the other dogs.  She would cuddle up next to them to sleep and when they would wrestle in the yard she wanted to join in.  However, since she was treated for heartworms she couldn't play for three weeks but now she can.  She likes to play tug-a-war and chase the tennis ball.

Polly is very mellow so she would do well in a less active family or for an older couple.  She would be fine with an active family too.  Polly could live in a home with one other dog, however she would definitely have to meet them first and get acquainted.  She's a cutie that wags her tail all the time and is waiting for her forever home.
